    Sweet Tone that Hits Hard

If you played more than a few vintage Tele's, then you know they are not all the same. Some are really sweet, while others are more aggressive. Our J-Mod Telecaster combines these two important tonal attributes in one amazing set of Tele Pickups.

Jay cut his teeth on a vintage 1968 Fender Tele w/ a Bigsby. If you were saw him early in his career, this is the guitar he was slinging. Multiple re-frets later, he was forced to find another #1 Telecaster. A Blue Fender Custom Shop Tele is his new #1 and it's equipped with the J-MOD Tele set.

Unlike the rest of our line of Tele pickups, the J-MOD set comes standard with a vintage nickel cover for vintage vibe.  This set sounds great clean or dirty. You can drive your tube amp into beautiful overdrive or get great tones from the bridge or neck when you step on your favorite dirt pedal. @JayLeonardJ helped us design this set & he made sure they sounded great with all of his favorite fuzz pedals before giving his seal or approval.

Pro Tested – On the Road & in the Studio

Jay Leonard Juatco is a professional composer, front-man, session player, touring guitarist & all around great guy. Jay is no stranger to the road, the studio or great Tele Tone. He is one of the most influential tone-chasing guitarists on the scene these days. He's been using our pickups in for several years now in multiple guitars. It's an honor that such an amazing talent chooses our pickups to achieve his tone & it was a privilege to work on this design with him.

Jay approached us with the idea of making a set that was as sweet & complex as his vintage 1968 Fender Telecaster with a couple of slight tweaks. He wanted the bridge to be a little bigger and bolder, similar to the tone found in our 1971 Punch Tele set but with the sweetness and nuance rich tone of his 1968 Tele. He also wanted the neck to be more open sounding than you typical Tele & he needed them to work great with dirt pedals.

Jay had big ideas & we were honored that he felt we were up to the task. R&D on this set took several years & there were multiple revisions along the way. The J-Mod Tele set is a pro set made for and designed for a pro.

Do you feel like you've met Jay before? You may recognize Jay from demos on our site or product video's he's done for the likes of Roland, Fender, Keeley, H&K, Quilter Labs, Wampler, Yamaha and many others. He's a busy musician that's toured the world & logged many years of studio time.

    How to Buy/Pricing

Our Tele Pickups start at $396 - Due to overwhelming demand, the current wait is 6 to 10 weeks on most sets but this set will not be ready for shipment until January 2021. To order click the "Add to Cart" at the top of the page.

Our building process takes a little longer than most pickup winders and we have rigorous testing that is performed on all pickups before they ship. This includes sound test. The goal is to make pickups that will not only inspire you when you get them but also 20 or 30 years down the road. We want these to be the last pickups you get.

Players with good ears seem to hear the difference right away. In fact, just about every pro we've dealt with has ordered multiple sets altering hearing how these pickups transform the feel & the tone of their instrument. We are sure you will appreciate the attention to detail when you hear your new pickups.
